For many, headaches are an annoying, but often temporary ailment. You take a paracetamol and continue with your day. But what if that headache does not go away, affects your entire life, and even hinders you in your daily activities? Then you may be dealing with (chronic) migraine - a condition that goes much further than 'ordinary' headaches.

What is migraine?

Migraines are a neurological disorder that manifests as attacks of moderate to severe headaches, often on one side of the head. But migraines are more than just pain. Many people also experience nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and in some cases even auras – visual disturbances such as flashes or spots. These symptoms can last for hours to days and can make it impossible to function normally.

Take part in the 'Migraine Day' survey

To better map the impact of migraine and to ensure that the right help and attention is offered, Hoofdpijnnet organizes the 'Day of the Migraine' every year. This is an important moment to draw attention to the many challenges that people with migraine face every day.

This year, a special survey will be held to gain insight into the experiences of people with migraine. This survey is not only important for researchers and healthcare providers, but also for policy makers who are responsible for improving care and support for people with migraine. Your experience counts! By completing the survey, you contribute to a better future for yourself and others with migraine.

Are you someone who lives with headaches? Or do you know someone who battles this daily? Please take a moment to take the survey . It’s a small effort, but it can make a big difference.

Migraine may be invisible, but it is anything but harmless. It affects millions of people worldwide and is a serious condition that deserves more attention. Thanks to organizations like Hoofdpijnnet and initiatives like 'Migraine Day', awareness is increasingly being raised and together we can work towards better solutions and support.
