Happlify: the best shopping guide + blog

"Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma is horrifying and a must see," I read on Elle.com, and frankly that's no exaggeration... Social media is addictive, causes us health problems and threatens democracy. In the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma, former employees of Facebook, Instagram, Google and Youtube sound the alarm.

Not so cheerful, no news, but shocking to have it explained so clearly. Personally and professionally I have always been critical when it comes to social media, see: RTL news interview and Hart van Nederland interview .

Social media is a great place for connection and especially smaller entrepreneurs can easily become visible. But it also has a dark side that we cannot ignore. It is heavily addictive (made) and you as a user are exposed to manipulation. Not so happy.

more humane

What do we 'should' do with that, with that knowledge? I think there should be stricter rules and I hope, like the ex-employees of Facebook & co, for a human version of social media. One of the reasons why I came up with Happlify; a community to connect, delight and surprise people without the garish opinion culture that is common on social media. "Can't we create a nice environment where positivity predominates? Where we use online and offline communication to get in touch with each other without losing weight?" - you can read more about this here .

Always start with yourself first

If you want to change something about the world... you always start with yourself first. So in 2018 I went 'digital detox' myself. Within a week I erased eight years of joys and sorrows, including all the photos of my digitally socially visible life. I can assure you now, almost 2 years later: it has made me a happier person! And I wish you that too.

I'm not saying you should stop completely, certainly not. Balance is the magic word and with my Digital Detox from Happlify it is easily within reach. Your online time and social media is limited and raked so that it gets a healthy place in your life. In addition, you will receive a large supply of happiness inspiration as a gift!
