Are you looking for a bit of warm coziness, but something that is not too heavy yet? Then this is a recipe for this strange in between time. Something that comes warm from the oven and yet also has a slightly fresh taste, the delicious plate cake with pear and brie from Foodaholic (aka ... Danielle). You will also find many more such beautiful recipes with her.

You don't need a lot of ingredients and this dish isn't difficult either. With good honey, this plate cake really becomes an irresistible one. According to Milieu Centraal, pear is a type of fruit that comes from the Netherlands in the spring and at the end of summer/early autumn, so you're in good hands with that.

Eating according to the seasons

Something that makes us happy, by the way: eating according to the seasons. At Milieu Centraal you can see exactly which fruit and vegetables come from the Netherlands in which month. This way you always know what the best choice is, in which season, for you and for the environment. Useful.

Trust me, everyone likes this.

  • 1 roll of fresh puff pastry
  • 2 ripe pears
  • 150 grams brie
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of cheese spread
  • honey (which you can pour)
  • 1 big handful of walnuts
  • 1 large bunch of arugula (optional)

Preparation method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Place the puff pastry roll on a baking tray lined with baking paper and spread it with the cheese spread.
  3. Peel the pear and cut into slices/pieces. Divide the pear over the cheese spread. Cut the brie into slices and put this on top as well.
  4. Crumble the walnuts and sprinkle them over the pie. Sprinkle honey to taste and put in the oven for about 15 minutes.
  5. Keep an eye on it, because some ovens are faster than others.
  6. Serve with arugula sprinkled on top.

TIP : the cake is delicious with a salad or with a bowl of soup.

The best honey is 100% natural and with no added sugars. Therefore, always check the label or order honey of which you are sure that the ingredients are in order. At Lekkerhoning.nl , for example, you can order real quality honey and you support organic beekeepers in the Netherlands and other European countries.
